The operation of the VIJHL is now in its 52nd season which is a tribute to the many people who have made this League and continue to make this league a resounding success. The Inaugural Season was back in 1965–66.

The 2017-2018 season promises to once again be a great season for the fans and players in the VIJHL. Our League mandate is to prepare players for their future in hockey and in life. A major objective of the VIJHL is to provide an opportunity for youths in the 17 to 20 year age group to play good, clean competitive hockey in our areas.  It is our intention that the calibre and style of hockey played should be such that participants and potential participants will look forward to playing in the League. We believe that a style of hockey that emphasizes the skills of the game and de-emphasizes intimidation will increase the appeal of our League for participants and spectators alike.

The VIJHL is a league that is committed to Development.  We do our best to provide all players, coaches and officials with an opportunity to flourish in a highly competitive environment that will help bring out their best.

Over a number of years now, we have been striving to reduce violence and intimidation in our League.  BC Junior hockey is now looked at as the BEST in Canada as we have created an environment for fast, skilled hockey where top quality players can develop their skills and look forward to a chance to move up to the next level of hockey.

It is our goal to make our game one in which families will be encouraged to attend, as they can look forward to an action-packed, fast, hard-hitting hockey game.

Thank You to the many fans who support our League and support our players, game in and game out.  We hope you will enjoy today’s game!

Thank You to the many sponsors whose generous contributions make it possible for the teams in our League to flourish and to offer a Junior Hockey program to the many communities on Vancouver Island.

And Thank You to the numerous volunteers and host families that give up countless hours to our teams to ensure that the players and management alike can do their best on the ice.

Good Luck and Good Hockey!  See you at the rink.
