Justis is back!

The former ‘Voice of the Kerry Park Islanders’, Justis Doucet, has returned to the job after two years away; he was enrolled in the BCIT Broadcast Communications program in Burnaby.

Mark Osmond, Kerry Park Islanders owner, is thrilled at Justis’ return, “I’m happy to advise that Justis will be our play-by-play guy this year and will be involved behind the scenes doing some of our social media.”

Currently working with the WLA Victoria Shamrocks, the broadcaster from Mill Bay is gearing up for a successful hockey season, “I really enjoyed my first two seasons with the Islanders and look forward to returning to KP as they look to build off of last year’s second round appearance.”

Although Justis has been at school and away from the Islanders, he’s still been working the microphone on hockey broadcasts. Last year, as part of his BCIT curriculum, he was involved with the WHL Victoria Royals and PJHL Mission City Outlaws (with former VIJHL Broadcaster of the Year Warren Andrews). Justis also called a couple of Campbell River Storm games; the 15/16 season opener and game 6 of the 16/17 VIJHL Finals.

Kerry Park and VIJHL fans can expect higher exposure coverage of their Islanders as Justis puts that BCIT experience to good use.

Noah Bergstrom, who was responsible for providing the Islanders’ Hockey TV play-by-play last season, is heading to school in September. Ironically, he’s going to BCIT and will be taking Broadcast Journalism.
