Anyone involved in hockey at any level is keenly aware of how close this community is and connected the players and organizations are to each other regardless of the distances. The tragedy in Saskatchewan didn’t just impact hockey, it tore at all Canadians and it hurts.

At the Cyclone Taylor Cup in Richmond, all players will be wearing a Humboldt Broncos tribute sticker and all proceeds from the 50/50 draws will be donated to the SJHL team. In addition, each of the BC Junior B leagues (Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League, Pacific Junior Hockey League and Kootenay International Junior Hockey League) will match the 50/50 proceeds.

VIJHL President Barb Byne, although sombre was proud to announce, “the VIJHL will be contributing to the support for the Humboldt Broncos. The VIJHL Governors unanimously have agreed to match all 50/50 proceeds that will be generated at the Cyclone Taylor Cup tournament in Richmond this week.  The PJHL has also agreed to match these proceeds as has the KIJHL.  Between the 3 Junior development leagues in BC, we hope to raise over $10,000 for the Humboldt Broncos and their families."

The Cyclone Taylor Cup begins on Thursday at Minoru Arena in Richmond and wraps up on Sunday afternoon.
