“I want to congratulate the Campbell River Storm in once again being the VIJHL ambassadors at the Cyclone Taylor Cup, the Provincial competition for Junior B hockey being held in Richmond this coming week (Apr. 12 - 15).  After 7 great games in the final series of end-to-end hockey, Campbell River overcame the determined Saanich Braves to become this year’s VIJHL League Playoff Champion and to receive the Brent Patterson Memorial Trophy.  The Saanich Braves were a great team to compete against and they worked hard to the very end.  Well done everyone!!

Lee Stone and his coaching staff have done a great job with the Strom this year and I am encouraged by the number of younger players that are consistently being used in these very important games.  The Storm will have their hands full competing against the KIJHL Champion the Kimberly Dynamiters, the PJHL Champion the Delta Ice Hawks and the Host team the Richmond Sockeyes but I know they are well prepared for this tournament and I am looking forward to some exciting hockey.  Knowing Campbell River, I am sure the stands in Richmond will be filled with their appreciative fans and the noise level will rise a few decibels during their games!!

As well as the Campbell River Storm competing in the Cyclone Taylor Cup next week in Richmond, the VIJHL will also have 2 Officials participate in this event. BC Hockey has selected Referee Bradley Ford and Linesman Corey Koop from the VIJHL to participate as Officials.

Congratulations to all that have worked so hard to get to this event and Good Luck at the Cyclone Taylor Cup!!”
