Campbell River Storm fans are in for a treat during the pre-season. On Saturday September 1 and Sunday September 2, they host the PJHL Champion Delta Ice Hawks at Rod Brind’Amour Arena in Campbell River.

The Ice Hawks were impressive last season going 37-4-0-3 in the regular season (best record in BC Junior B), capturing the Lower Mainland championship and taking silver at the provincials. The Storm regular season record was 36-6-4-2.

Storm Head Coach/General Manager Lee Stone is excited at the opportunity to meet up with such a talented team in the preseason that will no doubt test the VI champs, “They’re a high end team that will challenge us. They’ll be coming at us with a tight knit squad, they were so young last year. This will be a great opportunity for both clubs.”

Ice Hawks Head Coach/General Manager Steve Robinson approached the Storm organization about the games and was pleased by the reaction, “Initially we were looking at a neutral ice location but Lee was gracious enough to extend an invitation for us to come up so we jumped on it. We’re really excited about this.”

The last time these two teams met was on April 13, at the 2018 Cyclone Taylor Cup, when the Ice Hawks defeated the Storm 3-2 in overtime.
