The VIJHL Prospects Game is back after a 5 year hiatus.

Mark down January 7, it’s a Sunday, on your 2018 calendar as the date the best young talent in the VIJHL meet at Rod Brind’Amour Arena to show their stuff.

Campbell River Storm owner, Linda Lahtinen, is happy to be hosting this celebration of the VIJHL’s up and coming talent, “We are very excited to offer our fans and the City of Campbell River these great players. Thank you to our fans, volunteers and sponsors for making this a possibility.”

Wes Roed, the Storm Governor, remembers the last Top Prospects Game in 2013, “it was the highlight of the All-star weekend, full of energy, skill and speed…really fun to watch.”

The Board of Governors, at their AGM, recognized the value of this event in their continuing effort to model the VIJHL as a developmental league. Roed says that, “as a result, the idea of revitalizing this game was discussed and approved with Campbell River being granted the January 2018 game.”

The selection process, for the 16 to 18 year olds eligible to make the two squads, is being finalized. The game time on January 7 will be announced at a later date.

An all-star game is not planned for the 2017/18 season but, as was the case last year, a first and second all-star team will be announced near the end of the season.
